EE takes lion’s share of RootMetrics awards

The number of people in the UK with access to a 4G connection rose to 54 million at the end of December from 47 million at the end of 2015, according to the latest report from RootMetrics. The researcher said it tested 847 indoor locations in the UK from July to December 2016.

EE took many awards, including for overall, reliability, speed, data, text and call. It won best overall network in all counties in the UK, for the second time in a row. In Wales, Three and EE shared the network reliability award in the second half, while in Scotland Vodafone and EE both took the text and call awards. In Northern Irelands EE, O2 and Vodafone shared the call and text awards.

The report also found signal reliability is improving across the country, with levels up by 8 percent at year-end, compared to the first first half of 2016.
